Refraction of light



 definition:--

 When a ray of light travels through a transparent medium, the light travels as a straight line but when the ray of light moves from one transparent medium to another transparent medium, the ray of light deviates from its path.  .

 A ray of light moves away from the normal or tilts towards the normal. This phenomenon is called refraction of light.

 Rules of refraction

 There are the following 2 rules of refraction.

 (1).  For any two mediums, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of incidence should be constant.


 (2).  The incident ray and reflected ray must be in the same plane.

प्रकाश का अपवर्तन 

परिभाषा:--
          जब प्रकाश की किरण किसी पारदर्शी माध्यम से गमन करती है तो प्रकाश का गमन एक सीधी रेखा के रूप में होता है लेकिन जब प्रकाश की किरण एक पारदर्शी माध्यम से दूसरे पारदर्शी माध्यम में गति करती है तो प्रकाश की किरण अपने पथ से विचलित हो जाती है।
             प्रकाश की किरण अभिलंब से दूर हट जाती है या फिर अभिलंब की तरफ झुक जाती है इस घटना प्रकाश का अपवर्तन कहते हैं।

अपवर्तन के नियम-
               अपवर्तन के निम्नलिखित 2 नियम होते हैं।
(1). किन्हीं दो माध्यमों के लिए आपतन कोण की ज्या  परावर्तन कोण की ज्या का अनुपात नियत‌ होना चाहिए।

(2). आपतित किरण तथा परावर्तित किरण अभिलंब तीनों एक ही तल में होनी चाहिए।
